Worthing V Jersey Colts
Worthing 38-10 Jersey Colts
JRFC Saltgate Colts travelled to Worthing for their rearranged fixture which was cancelled due to the December storms. This time the teams were blessed with some winter sun.
Straight from kick-off Jersey had Worthing under pressure and with some great work at the breakdown and quick passing Quentin Fevrier dived over for Jersey’s first try to lead 5-0 with just 2 minutes gone.
Now it was Worthing who put Jersey under pressure scoring two tries in 8 minutes to lead 10-5. The pressure was beginning to tell and an unintentional high tackle resulted in a yellow card awarded against Jersey. Worthing added a converted try within short order to stretch their lead to 17-5.
On the 20 minute mark Kyle Cadiou scored Jersey’s second and last try to close the gap to 17-10. Worthing claimed another converted try before the break to make it 24-10 at half time.
Despite some good work particularly by the pack Jersey could not stop a confident Worthing who finished up winners by 38 points to 10. Time for Jersey to regroup and go again against Worthing in two weeks in the quarter final of the Sussex Colts Cup but before that they entertain Haywards Heath at home on Saturday 8th March kick-off 3:30 pm.
Saltgate continue to sponsor and support the team both on and off the pitch and recently presented the squad with training and playing kit.
