Match Report

Jersey Lions

Chobham
Due to travel disruption Jersey were not long off the bus before having to step onto the field for the first game of the day. Jersey started started strongly scoring a try almost from the first passage of play. Chobham has a more physical set of players which they use to good advantage and the game became more of a defensive nature with flashes of attack. Bay Maggs, Daniel Williams and Laurie Renouf put in some great tackles during this match whilst Max Wickham, Conan O’Brien & Finley Woolgar got on the scoresheet. Overall this was a very even encounter that ended up with the teams on 4 tries a piece.

Esher
After a 40 minute gap between matches, the squad was fully up and ready for this one. Try of the day happened in this game against the hosts with Finlay Bell making a powerful run up the far right touch line before offloading to Constantine Tresca who gave a perfect long pass to Conan O’Brien to score in the corner. Harry Cattell, Bay Maggs and Adam Philips carried the ball well through out with O’Brien and Bell making some excellent defensive hits on the Jersey tryline. Jersey did however pull away towards the end and won 7 tries to 5

Battersea Ironsides
This was Jerseys toughest game and the Jersey team had to dig deep throughout. Adam Philips in attack and defence was quite notable in this game as was Kaden Le Marquand-Coutanche, Daniel Wiliams & Laurie Renouf.  Finley Woolgar ran an incredibly direct route to score almost untouched right at the end to leave Jersey the winners 5 tries to 3.

Old Cranleighans
Due to our late arrival on the day, Jerseys last game of the day was played directly after the Ironsides match so no rest for the wicked!  This didn’t turn out to be a game of tough defence, it was more an exhibition of attacking rugby. Max Wickham, Finlay Bell, Bay Maggs & Finley Woolgar carried the ball tirelessly with Kaden Le M-C, Daniel Williams and Bell scoring in the first half. The second half proved to be more entertaining with the game ending with a length of the field try by Conan O’Brien to seal the win 11 tries to 9.

Jersey Tigers

Battersea Ironsides
On arrival the Tigers were straight on the pitch against a spirited  Battersea Ironsides team. Jersey started cold and took a few plays before getting into the match with the opposition putting in some very good tackles keeping out constant attacks by Hugo O'Grady, Thomas Wildey and Henry Clohesy and doing a good job of keeping ahead of Jersey. Its was a hard fought match with Jersey defence holding well with Zack Moon, Elijah Le Mottee and Joshua Nicole working hard to keep them out but leaving Jersey just one try down at the end.

Harliquins Armatures
Then there was no time to waste with the Tigers back in the action against the Harliquins Armatures this time Jersey were right in the action now with Freddie Fidrmuc, Thomas Wildey finding space and not letting the opposition get away. Again we were seeing end to end action from both sides great defence from Elijah Le Mottee, Riley Lescop with more great attacking this time by the Roscoe Treco and Jacob Pye combination really giving the opposition some trouble and scoring well earned tries, Jersey managed to close this game one try ahead taking home the win.

Old Reigation
After a quick hotdog stop the Tigers were back at it again this time against Old Reigation with still a belly full of hotdog they found themselves a little off the pace and found themselves 4 tries down. In the second half they seemed to find their pace again with Thomas Wildey, Rosco Treco and Henry Clohesy attacking hard and Elijah Le Mottee, Margot Leach and Joshua Nicolle working hard to keep them out jersey managed to fight back and briefly get out in front but it wasn't enough as the opponents fought back beating Jersey by the one try right at the end.

Old Rutlishians
Then it was their final time to shine for the day against the Old Rutlishians with another great game of rugby to watch, with great combinations from Hugo O'Grady and Henry Clohesy, Jacob Pye and Roscoe Tresca really gelling well and testing the opposition. Coupling that with the defensive combinations of Elijah Le Mottee, Zack Moon, Riley Lescop and Freddie Fidrmuc keeping the opposition out  both teams showing no sign of giving in keeping pace try for try right to the end where Jersey managed to get the win by 1 try.
