Brighton U12 Boys V Jersey U12 Boys
Brighton U12 Boys 5 - 35 Jersey U12 Boys
This weekend saw the Squad head off to Brighton. A bright clear but cold morning seemed to do the trick. After an initial flurry of attacks from both sides, Magnus Howe found himself in space and set off on what was to become his trademark run while spinning out of tackles on the way, to open the score after 5 mins.
Good pressure at the scrum saw the next score within minutes from wing Flynn Vautier. Brighton started to exert some pressure until Lachlan O’Brien kicked long to relieve the pressure, Milo Leach chased hard, Zac Howell being the beneficiary of the third try. Jersey continued to push on, great handling saw Nick Barnes break free on the halfway line to score a fourth try before half time. 0-4.
Continuing his great form, Milo Leach got to the try line, but was held up short, somehow as he went to ground a long arm reached out over the try line for Jersey fifth try. Brighton never gave up and the Jersey defence final gave way with less than 5 minutes left.
Milo Leach's response was to intercept a Brighton pass, to allow Nick Barnes to score. He didn’t finish there, Leach scored the final try, claiming the Player of the match award for both his try scoring and defensive work which meant Brighton weren’t able to get any forward momentum.
Final score Brighton 1 try Jersey 7
A great team effort all round, with Magus Howe and Zac Howell putting in great performances and special mention for an outstanding performance from Toby Mallet on his debut performance.
