JRFC U14s Development V Horsham

JRFC U14s development team were delighted to welcome Horsham RFC development for a rare home fixture.

Horsham squad arrived super early and made themselves at home in the shop and snack wagon [3rd breakfast apparently] before both squads joined the rest of the M&J's at 1100 for 2 minutes silence.

Once formalities had finishes, it was now time switch on. The first 10 minutes were too and fro with both sides testing each others defences before Horsham saw a gap on the Jersey flank and exploited the opportunity to take a 0-5 lead.

Some strong ball carrying from Jersey looked like they might break through but it was not to be as the ball was tuned over and Horsham ran through the line and scored under the posts. The try was dually converted to take the score to 0-12.

Another converted try from Horsham followed soon after but Jersey never let there heads drop and continued to probe the visitors defences with some excellent carries but the defence held strong and just before half time, Horsham extended their lead to 0-24.

In the second half, Jersey rallied and after some crisp interchanges between forwards and backs, a strong line break was rewarded with Jersey no8 going over near the corner.

The match then became a case of which side was going to cave but another excellent break by Jersey openside flanker culminated in a score in the opposite corner.

Surely a comeback was out of the question ? The dream was then vanquished with another Horsham try to end the game 10-29.
