Game Report

Jersey RFC U14s travelled to Worthing for their second league fixture of 2025. Worthing has recently come down a from Pool A so, they were an unknown entity.
From kick off, we could see they were a physical and well organised side with strong runners in the back line.  The first 15 minutes saw both teams testing each other with each attack being met with strong defence, until the Worthing exhibited some class with a lovely show and go that allowed him to break through and score under the posts.
Jersey then countered before handling error [which to be a theme for Jersey],  allowed the Worthing 12 to break down the 5m channel and go over under the posts.
Half time came with Jersey 14-0 down but they weren't disheartening and started the second half strongly with the forwards punching holes in the Worthing line and giving the backs  some useful ball to work with. A clever kick to the corner saw  Jersey bundle the Worthing wing into touch to win a key lineout.  A strong driving maul was finished brilliantly by the Jersey hooker going over in the corner then making it under the posts - 19-7.
The final 5 minutes was dominated by Jersey but they just couldn't get the final pass to hand  before the referee called time.
A hard fought fixture and the Jersey boys can hold their heads up for the part that they played.
