Girls Rugby Open Day
What a great day for scoring tries!
The Jersey Rugby Minis and Juniors held their annual Girls Rugby Open Day on 6th October to tempt new players into their growing squad.
They welcomed over 15 new players in the secondary school ages for their U12 to U18 teams. The coaches introduced girls to a series of fun activities including, tackling, passing and skill-based obstacle courses. As well as a great turnout of the current ladies team to assist and inspire. Head coach Julia Williams said ‘It was so encouraging to see so many teenage girls trying rugby with big smiles on their faces and challenging themselves with new skills.’
Girls rugby is a globally expanding sport, with England recent winners of the WXV1 tournament in Canada and also looking forward to hosting the Women’s rugby world cup in 2025 in England.
We’d like to thank our sponsors SG Kleinwort Hambros and Jersey Sport for their huge support in Girls Rugby. Without them this event and others would not be possible.
