Welcome to U12 Boys Rugby

At this stage, players aged 11 and 12 take on a more advanced and competitive form of rugby, with all core elements of the game in play, including scrums, lineouts, rucking, and mauling. U12 rugby focuses on refining key skills like tackling, passing, and positioning, while introducing more tactical awareness and strategic thinking. With an emphasis on teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, players start to experience the full intensity of rugby in a supportive and structured environment. U12 rugby is about developing well-rounded athletes who are prepared for the challenges and excitement of the sport as they continue their rugby journey.

Age Grade Regulations

U12s is a pivotal year-group as players begin their journey into secondary education.

As Jersey Reds Minis & Juniors players they will also be experiencing competitive rugby in the Sussex Leagues, beginning in the U12 waterfall competition.

It is an exciting opportunity and our coaches will be ensuring that players are well prepared for the challenge!

Progression within the Age Grade Regulations this year includes moving to a 5-player scrum, unlimited numbers in the ruck/maul and ability to fend off below armpit level.
